Hi, my name is Joi [Joey]. I started filming and editing videos since I was in high school (2007) for school projects and for fun. I was into C-Walking, a type of foot dancing, and it made me explore more about filming/editing videos.
In 2010 I was invited to Crossroads Christian Center, a church in Daly City, which is also the place where I actually met my wife on my 17th birthday. My youth pastor would always ask me to edit videos, manage the website, design flyers, and other media-related tasks. My wife also got involved so we ended up getting partnered together to lead our youth group’s Media Team. I actually graduated as a licensed vocational nurse but realized later on that that wasn‘t my calling, even though my whole family works in the medical field (traditional Filipino culture, anyone? ✌🏽👍🏽).
In 2016, a close friend I met at church asked me to do a wedding video for him. I said yes and I loved how it made me feel — from the getting ready moments, to the ceremony, to the Word of God, to the vows, to exchanging rings, to the first kiss, and eventually leading up to the celebration at the reception. The whole experience gave me all the feels and pure joy. I’ve attended more weddings since, and they all still give me the same feeling.
I proposed to my wife on May 11, 2019 and we got married on September 28, 2020. I can honestly say that I’m glad we invested in photographers and videographers to capture our wedding. I can relive those moments anytime, and I‘m looking forward to showing my future kids the best day of my life.
Currently, my wife and I are still serving at Crossroads Christian Center. We were actually appointed by our Senior Pastor to be the Media Directors since 2018.
I’m still in the beginning stages of my journey as a wedding videographer, but I want to give all the praise and glory to God for blessing me with the passion and talent to start this business, and it’s only by His grace that I will continue to pursue what He has called me to do.
Witnessing couples coming together in front of their family and friends, celebrating their love and uniting in one... this is where my calling is — to capture the joy of these moments.
